The Briarwood Civic Association Community Newsletter

Fall is here!

September marks the arrival of cozy sweaters, cooler evenings, and colorful leaves. It’s officially fall season here in Summerville; enjoy the beautiful shift in our community ambiance.

No September BCA Community Meeting

No meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 16. Our next in-person meeting is planned for Tuesday, October 21, should there be an agenda warranting discussion.

Back to School Safety

School is back in session. Please drive slowly and carefully, especially during early morning and afternoon hours. Watch for school buses and children walking or biking in our neighborhood. Your mindfulness keeps everyone safe.

Celebrating Community Volunteers

Thank you to Mr. Ted Bird for volunteering his time to trim and tidy the bushes at the front entrance. Our community looks better because of you!

Neighborhood Safety Advisory

Recently, a resident noticed a suspicious individual dropping packages at a house, walking around to the back gate, retrieving them, and leaving—caught on surveillance. Law enforcement has been notified. Please lock your home and vehicle doors, keep an eye out for unusual activity, and report any suspicious persons to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department. Let’s stay alert and protect each other.

A Message from the Board of Directors

Your 2025 Board of Directors wants to continue serving you in 2026! We deeply value your support and engagement. Thanks to those who voted this year, we successfully updated our community By-Laws and legally filed them. For the proposed changes to our Covenants & Restrictions, we came up 57 house votes short of approving changes like above-ground pools and taller privacy fences, but momentum is growing. These ideas had clear support, and with continued community participation, 2026 may bring the change many of you want.

Your vote matters—together, we shape our neighborhood’s future.
